HDR photos are amazing – the wide range of intensity levels create incredibly dynamic images that oftentimes look surreal. HDR photography has been around since 1930′s but only with the introduction of the Merge to HDR function by Photoshop CS2 the technique became mainstream.
What does HDR mean?
High dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminances between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. – Wikipedia
I have collected some of my favorite examples of HDR photography. All pictures are licensed under Creative Commons and presented along with a link to the creator’s profile on Flickr. Enjoy!
